Scooters VS Cars
June 9, 2008
Summer is approaching and gas prices are continuing to rise making many motorists take a second look at their vehicle. SUVs were once a popular vehicle for the middle class who used it as a status symbol and getting around town.
The problem with that right now is that SUVs are just not practical. Many families are looking towards smaller more economical cars as a viable alternative.
However, if you need something a little smaller and cheaper, then a scooter or motorcycle is definitely the way to go. Scooters, on average can get up to 120 miles per gallon and cost significantly less then small compact cars. While many will find a two wheel vehicle simply not practical but for those who primarily drive in the city limit will find that the savings are just too good to pass up.
Scooter and motorcycle retailers are seeing an increase in sales, the highest it has been in the past two decades or so. In the past few years scooter sales along have risen from 12,000 in 1997 to over 110,000 in 2005. These numbers are from the Motorcycle Industry Council.
Scooters which were once in vogue back in the 1960s are coming back into style since they provide an incredibly cheap way to ride around without wasting a lot of money.
Several scooter and motorcycle club are popping up in cities to encourage new riders. They are certainly not alone and many experts believe that over the summer the popularity of these vehicles will only continue to grow.
Drivers are now looking into cheaper modes of transportation to replace their large trucks or SUVs. For those who are unable to take public transportation is finding that the convenience of scooters and motorcycles are perfect for inner city travel.
Gas prices are showing no signs of lowering and so switching to a scooter or motorcycle is just a smart investment.

Got something to say?

Scooters do not get 120MPG on average. You’ll be hard pressed to find one that gets an advertised maximum of 120MPG. You could have spared lying in your article, said “50cc scooters get an average mileage of 90MPG” and still gotten your point across.
We obviously are in no position to run tests on scooters MPG but our respected sources have the MPG of scooters from 50MPG to 150MPG.

Some scooters even claim up to 220MPG.
