Leasing A Used Car: The Next Trend?
May 14, 2008
With the housing market at a down turn and the entire economy feeling the negative impact of a severe credit crunch consumers are turning to other options when it comes to buying vehicles. Used cars have only recently begun to garner the attention of the populace at large as they gain more respect and legitimacy.
Many people consider used cars to be for the financially pressed like college students. No longer sold exclusively on the side of the road or through unscrupulous car dealerships, used cars are now seeing a new market of consumers who require a vehicle but may not have the financial security to buy a new model.
The luxury car market such as Mercedes and BMWs are even seeing an increase in the sales of their used cars. Many believe this is a direct cause of the current financial state of the United States and while they may be correct, the sellers of these used cards do not seem to be complaining all that much.
Leasing that new but pre-loved car is giving potential consumers even more options that they would normally lack if they were to buy a used car with cash upfront. Leasing a used car works much in the same way as leasing a new car though experts warn consumers that you have to be a little more aware of what you are getting yourself into.
While there will be lower upfront costs and lower monthly payments then with leasing new cars, you must remember that the car is pre-owned. This means that there may be preexisting problems that the consumer should be aware of. You can request the vehicle’s history for a small fee which will list any reported accidents or repairs. Even armed with this information consumers should inspect the vehicle thoroughly before signing at the dotted line.
For those looking to lease a used car you will still be subjected to conditions as you would with a new car. Such conditions will include the allotted miles you are able to accumulate over the leasing period and the condition of the car during the time it is in your care.
For many leasing provides a cheap and easy way to own a car.
